Miguel Angel Quintana was born in Mexico City in 1962. He attended Law School at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he graduated with honors in 1989.


Miguel Angel Quintana began his practice in 1981. Before founding Quintana Arouesty in 2006, Mr. Quintana was associated for 20 years with Noriega y Escobedo, A.C., one of Mexico's leading firms, where he was a partner for 8 years and managing partner for more than 2 years. In 2001, he joined Thacher Proffitt & Wood, S.C. where he was a resident partner in Mexico City.

Mr. Quintana has also advised the Mexican Federal Government in the drafting of legislation, including the 1992-93 amendments to Mexico’s power legislation, the 1995 amendments to the Foreign Investment Law, and the 1996 Railway Regulations; in 2000, Mr. Quintana acted as outside counsel for the energy transition team of President Vicente Fox.
In 2004 and 2006, the peer review publication Guide to the World's Leading Project Finance Lawyers designated Mr. Quintana as "one of the Mexican experts on Project Finance."
Mr. Quintana is a member of the Board of Directors of various companies and associations.
Mr. Quintana is a frequent speaker on panels on energy and Mexican law.
